Guilt: I Haz It

Just a quick (short) post tonight. I made a card (yay!), though not the one I set out to make, and it speaks to me. I am a Jewish mother, and we do guilt really well. In fact, BR #2 and I were just talking about who's better at guilt - Jewish mothers or Catholics? I say between the two groups, we've got it covered.

Here's the card:

I started out looking for my voo-doo guy to use on a card, but I ran across these two stamps, and, well, it had to be done. I think (THINK) these are from Hambo Stamps. [ETA: Or River City Rubber Works. Thanks, Liz!]

The patterned paper was already a partial piece, so I used it. The purple layers are cut from the same paper - the back side is purple! No thinking! Although I will say that now I've reorganized all my retired card stock into the back of my lower cabinet where I have to contort myself to reach them, I use them more than ever. The card base is Mellow Moss. (Ow, my back.) Yeah, I'm going to have to re-think this card stock organization to make it less painful.

ANYway, I colored the dress with a Copic marker and in real life it is closer to matching the light purple in the paper.

I love this lady! I think she may be my new irreverent sentiment go-to image. I can make her say all sorts of things. I'm thinking, "Oh, the drama!" would work quite well.

That's it. No, really, that's all I have. I need to finish the other two cards (I cut up parts for three of them), then get to bed. Tomorrow's weather forecast is 100 degrees and high humidity, with a heat index of 105-110. They actually said to not go out unless you absolutely have to. So yes, I'm doing the farmers market. I made coffee ice tonight and froze one more kitchen towel. I should be fine. If you Tweet, you can follow me for updates of who's passed out from heat prostration, and how many tomatoes exploded. Should be fun!

Thanks for stopping by!

  1. Exploding tomatoes sounds like fun! As long as I'm not too close, that is. :)

I like your lady a lot. She would be great for a lot of sentiments!

  3. I think she is from River City Rubber Works - I got her the sentiment "I seem to have misplaced my youth."

Love the colors you used on your card!

  4. This card is like... perfect for my sister. Her grown kids guilt her out all the time and borrow money. If I had this stamp, I would so make one for her! Love your coloring!
