Jingle Belles Rock - Week 10

This week's Jingle Belles Rock challenge was to make a card inspired by our personal Christmas traditions, a la "Home for the Holidays".

This was a tough challenge for me, because I don't celebrate Christmas. I've been married to a man whose family celebrated it, but it's not my holiday and I have no personal family traditions from which to draw inspiration. So for the past three days I've been doing various streams of consciousness with the theme, the words to the song, etc., to get to a point where a card would materialize.

For example: Home for the Holidays --> holiday traditions --> ANY holiday --> but this is a Christmas challenge --> never mind

Then: Christmas --> presents --> rant about the commercialization of Christmas --> Bah, Humbug --> old news in my world (I have that sentiment and I've made that card) --> never mind

So I focused on the song. Home for the holidays --> there's no place like home for the holidays --> there's no place like home --> THE WIZARD OF OZ! YES, I CAN DO THIS!

Wizard of Oz --> ruby slippers --> I HAVE RUBY SLIPPERS! And a snarky sentiment to go with it, of course. Here's what came out:

The shoes are from a There She Goes set with some other awesome images and snarky sentiments that you'll see more of this week. The sentiment is from Inky Antics, and I usually use it with one of my Emerson ladies.

I chose the polka-dotted shoes over the plain ones that I've glittered in the past because I wanted to use my Enamel Accents on the dots. In hindsight, perhaps red glittered shoes to match the red polka dots in the paper might have been a better choice, but ... no, I'm happy with the black dots. Nice contrast.

So there you have it - my entry for this week's Jingle Belles Rock challenge. Now go play if you haven't already done so!
