Moxie Fab World: Tuesday Trigger

In my blurfing this week, I caught the Moxie Fab World: Tuesday Trigger post before it was the weekend already. Yeah, I'm usually a few days behind the rest of the world. So here's this week's Trigger:

I looooooooooooooove this. I saw yellow and white with a touch of black. I had a plan, and after a few failed attempts, this finally came out:

I won't talk about all the failures, and there were many, mostly because I'm pretty happy with how this turned out. The stems seemed to be floating, so to anchor them I decided to stamp the sentiment a little higher and have it stand in as the "ground".

My idea started with this blue flower thingie I made a few weeks ago when my cache of baker's twine arrived:

(Please excuse the cat hair stuck to it. That happens around here.) I figured if people could twist and wind ribbon into a spiral flower, how about twine? It's way flatter and better for my customers who like flat cards and not paying additional postage.

So my idea for the Moxie Fab World card was to make these spirals in yellow, AND I planned to use my Martha Stewart punch I bought at least a year ago when I was enabled to shop at Impress. Darned "friends" who tell me about these places. Grrrrr. Anyway, I had this punch and could never get the resulting flowers to work the way I wanted, so this time I decided to just let them be the background of the flower, and I'd put the yellow spirals in the centers. Because it's on white, I added yellow circles behind the punched pieces so you could see them.

For the one or two spiral ribbon flowers I've made, I use a piece of sticky-paper as the base. For these I hand-cut the sticky circles to fit inside the punched pieces. Here's the three punched flowers and a hand-cut circle of sticky paper:

I cut it from one of the sheets I got from SU, and they are about 1/2" in diameter. It doesn't have to be perfectly round, which is a good thing. (HAHAHA! My Martha is showing.)

I only had one trauma while finishing the card: my black bling went missing. I have big black bling (HA! Say that fast three times), but I need teeny tiny black bling, so I stopped at Mike's on the way home to get some, and, well, I must admit I got a few other things, too. I am weak. I'll reveal the new crafty items as they appear here. Sigh. As a fall-back plan to the teeny black bling, I thought I could cut the legs off some black brads, but fortunately no brads had to be mutilated for this card.

I likey. I likey even more that I can also enter it in the Splitcoast Spotted Canary Spring Challenge. A true multi-tasking card!

I have several other challenges on the back burner, so I'm off to craft some more.
