Jingle Belles Rock - CLEAR

This week's challenge at Jingle Belles Rock is "It came upon a midnight *CLEAR*" where they asked us to make a holiday card that contains at least one see-through element, whether that be glass, a transparency, some vellum, acetate or "ghost" shapes, clear stickers, Lucite buttons, shrink plastic... whatever you like... if you can see through it (& figure out how to attach it!). Yeah, it's the attaching part that's tricky here.

For my card I chose a 6x6 of my Webster's Pages vellum and I made this:

I think the most difficult part was figuring out the 6x6 part. I actually considered making a 6x6 card, which would have me making a custom envelope, and that started to sound like work, so I gave in and trimmed the vellum.

Please notice you can "see through" the vellum to a piece of gold-embossed music paper. I liked how it shows through the vellum. :)

Now to the attaching. On the left side I used two green eyelet brads. Remember those? I have a whole collection, in every color. Why do you ask? ;/ I was looking for gold, but decided these green ones blended into the vellum better:

I punched the holes with the largest Crop-A-Dile punch for it to fit properly. I'm trying to remember back to what we would have used pre-Crop-A-Dile, when these eyelet brads came out. Either a punch or the hammer and hole-maker tool. I sure don't miss that.

So two of these hold down the left side of the vellum. You can also see the purple in the vellum pattern that led me to choose the Elegant Eggplant layer. I could have used a green, but I like being different.

The shiny gold ribbon was out in my box of ribbons I'm using to make my holiday ribbon wreaths, and given that I've made one - ONE - and my shows start next weekend, I'm using the active verb very, very loosely here.

Back to the attaching. The whole right side of the vellum was flopping in the breeze, and I was actually okay with that. Then I remembered I'd purchased some "drastically reduced for quick sale" glitter letters just to use on this card, so I added the NOEL:

and under each letter I put a rolled-up glue dot so the vellum sticks to the music paper. This leaves only the top corner and the bottom 1/4 of the vellum loose, and I think that's fine.

Yeah, I'm pretty happy with it. I might even make another one with the second piece of matching vellum! :)
