SOS #106 - Geometric Shapes

Happy Tuesday! It's time for a new Shopping Our Stash challenge. This week we ask you to use geometric shapes. This means we'd like you to incorporate geometric shapes into your card design - circles, squares. rectangles, hexagons, etc. You can use patterned papers, punches, die-cuts, embellishments, whatever. Please note that the shape of your card, or cutting your sentiment into a circle or rectangle, does not count! We want the geometric shapes to be your focus! Got that? Good. :)

Okay, I might have gotten carried away and tried two things. This first one is a great way to use up remnants:

I cut some remnants into 1 1/4" squares and made a 9-patch design of questionable origin. It's got 9 squares, and that's about it. I used papers from the same 6x6 pack so I knew they'd go well together. The corners are actually squares of the floral paper. I tried cutting the squares in half but they were so "off" they didn't fit back into place, so instead I punched out 2 green squares, cut them in half, and stuck them in the corners. It didn't really matter since I was embossing the whole thing anyway.

Before I stuck the embossed piece down to the base, I added some miscellaneous brads where the corners meet to make it look like I tried.

For my second trick, I cracked open a package of wooden hexagons and made this:

(Oh, look, the top hexagon got a little wonky. Sigh.) I colored them with my Hero Arts neon ink daubers. I also played with flicking some neon ink onto a piece of watercolor paper. I applied some of the dauber ink to my craft mat, spritzed it a little, picked it up with a brush, then flicked it. It's random; it's fun.

I wanted a matching layer, so I ran the blue dauber around the edge of a piece of white card stock and boom: matchy-matchy.  Although you can see it's all warped, so next time I'll sit on it or put it under a book for a while. I stamped the sentiment from the CAS-ual Fridays Exclamations set in black for contrast.

Now it's your turn! Go find something geometric and use it to make your card, then come pack to Shopping Our Stash and link us up so we can see what you've made!

Thanks for stopping by!
