Mix Tape

Some of you may know what a Mix Tape is, and some of you may be too young. Before I get to my card, I thought it would be a good idea to show you what a cassette tape is.

This is a cassette tape (Harry Chapin, to be precise):

They come (came? can you still buy them?) in this plastic box that opens to reveal the tape itself:

I have quite the collection of cassette tapes, though it is not as vast as my CD collection. I was sad when I sold my last car that had a cassette player in it. Actually, the Miata has one, but it no longer works. :(

ANYway, I was quite excited to see that MFT came out with a cassette tape die and coordinating stamp set, so I bought it (surprise) and today I finally used it to make this:

I die-cut some MFT cardboard packaging to make extra layers of the tape so it's nice and thick. The top layer was cut from a piece of Core'dinations textured white card stock. I stamped the "label" in Hero Arts Soft Granite so I could stamp the sentiment in black (so you can read it).

For the heart, I put a piece of washi onto a scrap of white, then die-cut it. The stuff cuts like buttah.

And in case you are wondering, Yes, the die-cut is the same size as the real thing:

Exactly the same size. :)

Okay, I have lots more goodies in my new-but-never-used pile that I hope to break into today. Hopefully I'll be back with another card!
