When I first saw this set from Lil' Inker Designs, I knew one needed to come live with me:
Here's the card I made, then I'll explain:
Yesterday, before I put the set away, I decided to play with some of my homemade mists. I had one marked Persimmon, which I assume was made with water + some Distress Ripe Persimmon reinker. I had a piece of white card stock out, plus some remnants from the hexagons I'd cut out when I made this card. I'd saved the "frames", too, so I trimmed one up nice and neat, and put it on top of the white card stock on my craft mat and spritzed away, then dried it with my heat tool. It gave a very cool look, don't you agree?
I liked it enough to try another color on top of it, so I shifted the hexagon frame over, then spritzed the paper again with something marked Heirloom Gold (it's a color of Perfect Pearls). The hexagons are very subtle since they were sprayed over the Persimmon, but they are still there. I dried that and declared it a success! :)
Next, I stamped the stick figures with Archival Black ink, then contemplated the sentiment. I opted to use a bunch of them together, so I lined them up on my grid paper so they were mostly straight, picked them up together with a big acrylic block, then stamped them with Archival Black.
I mounted the white onto a piece of Hero Arts Blush layering paper, then added a wood veneer heart that I covered with my gold Wink of Stella brush pen.
The Heirloom Gold is kinda shiny, since it's made with Perfect Pearls. You can sorta see that here:
You can also sorta see the offset hexagon frame where I moved it to spray the gold mist. Sorta, maybe.
Now I've finally put this set away, and I'll move on to something else. :)
Thanks for stopping by!

From The Ashes #2
This is my second From The Ashes card, where I use only stuff out on my desk, which means it's mostly cast-offs from other projects that I couldn't bear to throw away. My first From The Ashes card is here, and here's #2:
This one is for three (yes, THREE) challenges:
Moxie Fab World: Happy for Hexagons
Operation Write Home Midweek Throwdown Color challenge: Teal or Turquoise
Colour Me challenge:
Okay, okay, I took some liberties with the definition of "teal", but my hexagons were cut from a light pool color, which is really teal, if you think about it. That's my story, and I'm sticking to it.
Because of all that blah blah blah, here's the card again so I can explain:
First I cut the hexagon background from a piece of Hero Arts Shallows paper that was laying next to my paper cutter. Then I cut it again from pieces of red, grey, black and white so I had a few hexagons of each of the colors. I stuck the pool frame to the white base, fit in the not-pool colors, then filled the rest with pool pieces. I then went around with my glue and Pick-Me-Up tool and applied glue under each piece.
The sentiment is from a new Lil' Inker set (linked below) that I had to have, even though I rarely make wedding or engagement cards. I think it's the font that sold me.
Now if you'll excuse me, I need to go link this baby to three challenges. Then I might stamp again. :)
Thanks for stopping by!

From The Ashes #1
Every once in a while I clean my desk. Wait, no, that's a lie. I do move things around, though, and sometimes I break down and use the stuff. I call this "from the ashes". Sometimes it even works!
I was cruising my Feedly list of neglected challenges and found several that needed to be done. I combined a bunch of my left-overs and made two cards. I'll show you one here and I'll milk it and do a second post for the second card. :)
I bring you From The Ashes #1:
If this looks familiar, it's a cast-off from when I made this card. I wanted to use fewer stamped rows on that other card, but since I'd mostly lined these up, I saved it instead of trashing it. Lucky thing, too! I added two rows of blue, trimmed it down, and used it as the rectangle in the current Freshly Made Sketches sketch:
which I, of course, flipped:
The sentiment was already stamped, cut and even layered, but unloved and cast aside. Because it had the word "glow", I decided to spray the rectangle with my homemade Perfect Pearls mist to make it really shiny. That worked:
The black dot things are from a bag I have hanging on my desk lamp. I put them there to offset and balance the black in the sentiment:
And because I don't know when to stop, I colored the letters in the sentiment with a gold glitter pen, because I could.
I'm pretty happy with how this turned out.
Thanks for stopping by!
