Christmas Text

I've been making a lot of pretty trash lately, so I decided to change gears and play the current Jingle Belles challenge: Text Me. Nothing like Christmas in February to jump-start the ole mojo, huh? :)

I like playing these challenges because ... I don't know about you, but I tend to buy Christmas products when it's too late to use them. Am I the only one? Nah, didn't think so. I KNOW there will be new stuff later this year, but I still love the stuff I bought last year, and I haven't used it all, so playing Christmas challenges is poifect!

Here's this fortnight's card:

The theme of this challenge is to use text on our cards. There are all sorts of holiday papers with text on them, but that seemed too easy. Instead I thought I'd use a sentiment from a holiday stamp set and make my own text background, so I pulled out my Paper Smooches Swanky Snow Dudes set (worth it just for the name, but the images are stinkin' cute!). I used the "season's greetings" sentiment with Hero Arts Soft Vanilla ink and stamped it over and over again on a piece of miscellaneous vanilla card stock. I was getting kinda tired of white.

The tree dies I bought at the last minute in December, and now they've been opened, used, and put away. Go, me! I cut the background out of the vanilla card stock to make a hole, then stuck the vanilla piece to a scrap of white so it had a back. I die-cut the outline out of both dark brown and a piece of Hero Arts patterned card stock, then pieced it all together like a puzzle.

I cut up a piece of vanilla with my Memory Box Snow Drifts die and layered them at the base of the trees. Then I stamped the same sentiment in Brown Bark, and outlined the hills with a glitter pen.The whole thing is mounted on a base of Hero Arts patterned card stock.

I thought it still needed something, so I added some clear sequins from Neat & Tangled.

That's it, and now I'm three for three so far this year with the Jingle Belles challenges. Whoot!

Now I'm going back in to see if this Christmas project might jump-start the mojo. Wish me luck!

And thanks for stopping by!

Products used: Neat & Tangled sequins, misc brown and cream card stock, and the following:

  4. I'm guessing by all these posts I've gone through today that this definitely jump started your mojo. This is a great card and sure, Christmas in February is a thing! And yes, I buy for EVERY holiday too late to use it. I've managed to squeak in most of my last-minute Valentine purchases this year. I'm down to the wire though!
