Ya know how you set out to do one thing, then something entirely different happens, and then you are faced with a decision? Yeah, that was my morning. I started out trying to make a very light background to use as part of my Online Card Classes CAS3 homework, but I chose poorly, and the ink I used came out too dark for what I wanted to make.
Did I panic? Nope. Did I toss it and start over? Nope. I embraced my oops and took it in a different direction, making something that should be very familiar to you by now:
That Hero Arts Tiny Flag background stamp is so much fun! I started by stamping it in Soft Vanilla, but it came out too dark, even though it doesn't look like it here. I opted to just take a darker brown (Soft Brown) and stamp it a little offset and make it look like I meant to do that! I cut the stamped panel into two sections and made two cards. The strip of brown along the top of the stamped area is from the Hero Arts Earth Layering Papers. I used another piece of it as the base. I love that the layering papers are white on the inside so you don't need to line them.
I stamped the sentiment in Memento Luxe Rich Cocoa and clear-embossed it. The sentiment wasn't as long as I thought it was, and I didn't want to center it, so I needed to fill in some space. I opted to use some enamel dots to break up all that brown, and still keep it fairly gender-neutral.
These will go in my next box of cards to OWH.
Thanks for stopping by!

I really like this one, especially with the enamel dots as a pop of color. How do you use that triangle stamp - do you put the stamp on the paper or turn the stamp upside down and apply the paper to the stamp? I have it, haven't use it yet, and can't quite understand ow to get this look without getting it all wonky the second time.
ReplyDeleteWonderful pop of blue, it goes so well with your browns. Love this style of card. Wonderful job stamping.
ReplyDeleteGreat card. I tried to study the triangles to see how they were stamped and I got mesmerized.....
