My pal Libby is waaaaaay into the Tour de France, and every year she has a Tour de Craft on her blog, where she and other stampy types make cards to celebrate le Tour during the month of July.
The day I got this year is a rest day -- the best kind! (When I biked in my former life, I didn't appreciate hills.) Here's my card:
This was SO much fun to make! I was experimenting with a combination of techniques. I've pretty much fallen in love with the "ink an acrylic block with Distress inks, spritz it with water, then stamp it on watercolor paper" technique, but I wondered what would happen if you stamped it over an embossed background. This card is the result of that experiment. I LOVE IT!
I trimmed the background to just around the colored embossed area, then put it onto a green card base that was also trimmed down (my card is 4 x 5). The bike is a paper clip from Staples.
I had to look up the French word for rest ... then I used some ancient rub-ons to put it on the tag.
I love how this turned out!
Thanks to Libby for inviting me to play again this year. Make sure to stop by her blog throughout July to see all the bike creations, and to leave her some comment love.
It's a rest day, so I'll say this very small: Allez!!!!
Stuff I used: Paper clip from Target, rub-ons from Rob & Bob, Little B washi tape, and the following:
so fun! love how your ink smooshing technique worked over these embossed triangles!!
ReplyDeleteReally love your card Leslie!!! Such a fun technique, I'll have to give it a try. Thanks for joining me. :-)
ReplyDeletesacre bleu, madame!!! (sorry i went all french there for a second, but YOU started it, mon amie!)
ReplyDeleteok, so i'm adding the embossed panel idea to my inky essperiments list. and wondering if i have time to stop at staples to see if they have bicycle shaped paper clips. b/c yeah, this card is THAT ENABLING!!! :)
I love how your embossing resisted the ink. At first I thought you did some fancy stenciling job and were real careful with the colors. Fun card.
ReplyDeleteWhat I say about biking is: It's all fun and games until someone loses a gallbladder.
True story.
