Here's my card, then I'll explain:
Sorry about the glare. Dang photographer needs to be replaced. |
This card is not what I set out to make. After about 20 minutes of searching for my number dies, I realized they're loaned out, and that's why I couldn't find them. Or maybe they were returned to me and I put them in a safe place. Really, really safe. Whatever, they're not around, so I had to go with Plan B.
Plan B was to use my trusty Hero Arts numbers background. I first stamped it with Versamark onto a white panel, then heat-embossed it with Hero Arts white. Then I stared at it for a while.
I remembered this post on the Hero Arts blog, where Cheiron used daubers to ink up her background, so I did a variation of that with my neglected Hero Arts Neon Ink Daubers.
Because I'm old, and I don't celebrate my birthday any more, I went with the "It's just a number" sentiment. I don't own that sentiment, so I made it with the Lawn Fawn Milo's Alphabet set. I love that there are enough multiples of letters to go around for most sayings. Plus, they butt up against each other for perfect spacing. Bonus! (heh heh I said butt)
I used the neon blue dauber to color a small panel to put behind the sentiment, then put the whole thing onto a Hero Arts Celadon card base.
After assembly, I decided this needs a miniscule Happy Birthday sentiment that will fit at the bottom of the sentiment panel. I'm still searching for one. If I'd been thinking clearly I'd have left room. Sigh. I may go back and re-do that.
Using numbers is a pretty easy challenge, and I think you should play along! Please stop by the SOS blog to see how the other ladies have interpreted the numbers theme, and to leave them some comment love.
Thanks for stopping by!
i loooooooooooove this one! & for the record, as cool as cheiron's card is, i like yours even more... i like that not all the numbers are colored in, it makes it soooo dynamic! i also like the sentiment where it is, b/c that way you can put the "happy birthday" part inside, (i like to save something for inside, then i can write less, lol!) :)
ReplyDeleteGorgeous card, fab. take on the challenge. I know what you mean about that "safe place" I have lots of stuff there. the square dies finally surfaced though so there is hope for you too.
ReplyDeleteVery pretty! I like the neon colors on the numbers and that alphabet set is so easy to use - when I remember to use it, that is.
ReplyDeleteAwesome card! I love the bright colours bursts around the numbers! Fab job!
ReplyDeleteWonderful card, I Love that stamp for birthdays. Yes, the inside would be perfect for any size HB sentiment.
ReplyDeleteGreat card and a super idea for any age. Now when does one stop celebrating the "number" I wonder?
ReplyDeletehe heh you said butt....lol! I'm loving the neon - terrific idea! and I think it's great with the sentiment as-is. So there. lol!
ReplyDeleteIf you wanted to live dangerously, you could use those alpha stamps to say something like "and yours is unlisted." on the inside with a HB stamp. Regardless, I love how your card looks! Love the random spots of color over the embossed panels!
ReplyDeleteAnd you said butt!
You said butt, heh heh. Great card and I'm impressed with the homemade greeting all nicely lined up. I'm really liking the challenges that SOS is putting out lately... can't seem to actually make any of their card ideas but I'm liking them. I've hardly played lately. That's bad for the soul.
