SOS #215: Layer It On Me

It's Tuesday, and time for a new challenge at Shopping Our Stash. This week's theme is layers - we want to see your layers!

I used to layer everything. My cards weighed 5 lbs. But no more! So this was a challenge for me. I thunk and I thunk and then I remembered the technique where you make a background, then cut out rectangles and layer them back over themselves.

Confused? Lookie:

But I cheated. I used a panel from my UFO pile. I laid two rectangles from the Simon Says Stamp Stitched Rectangles stack over the panel and cut them out. I ended up with two "frames" and the inner rectangle.

I cut red/poppy card stock just larger than each of the three pieces, and stacked them up on a white card base. I'm back to 5 lbs.

For the sentiment, I opened and used my MFT Tag Talk set. I cut it out of white and layered it on a remnant of the poppy paper, then stuck it to the card with foam tape. Done.

So, are you a layerer? Were you one in the past? Get out those papers and layer it on for us, then come link up at SOS!

Thanks for stopping by!

Stuff I used, UFO, SU Poppy Parade card stock, UFO (I forget how I made it), and the following:

  6. That's a great way to get layers, and it won't cost you 2 dollars to mail it. Well done!

  7. I don't think your card is doing my headache any good. Despite it, I understood how you made your layers. I used to go crazy with layers too, so much so that I would then have to put a bunch of layers on the inside just so the card felt more balanced.

  9. I can't really determine whether you used a DP or made your own background. If it's the latter I'm very curious as to have you managed to make it so colorful... But either way, it's a great technique you've used to make layers, simple yet decorative.
