I've played with tapping the powder onto both wet and dry surfaces, and various levels of spritzing, but I'm still not feeling the love.
Then a few of my bloggy peeps used the Color Burst to paint. Well duh, it's powdered paint. So I tried it. This is what came out:
I used the yellow, orange and red Color Burst pigment powders. I tapped some powder onto my craft sheet and added water to it, then used a brush to paint the colors onto some water color paper. It works the same as any other water color. Surprise! There is some red up in the yellow because I failed to rinse my brush well enough. There are also some random color splotches here and there; no idea how that happened, but I kinda like it. Oh, wait, I meant to do that. Right, I probably couldn't do it on purpose, though.
To make this background more interesting, after it dried I added some translucent embossing paste through a Hero Arts stencil and set it aside to dry. I only touched it five or six times before it dried. Sigh.

Well, I'm glad I got that out of my system. If I'm going to water color, I'll use one of my six other options in my craft room. I don't need to collect any more stuff. Not that this isn't the right product for YOU. I'm just not a water colorer, and I don't need one more product to collect. I'm sure I'll find something else I NEED instead. :)

Girlfriend, I am so out of it that I have never even heard of Color Burst, Brusho, nor Ferro (earlier post regarding its explosion.) As for embossing paste, I have that somewhere, it may be dried up after more than a decade, and I'm not sure I remember how to use it, LOL!

That's so pretty! I like the paint effect much more than the splattered stuff I have seen done with this stuff. I am not hopping on this band wagon.
ReplyDeleteWell that works quite nicely! And yes, you could possibly achieve a similar effect with one of your other watercolour options, but would you get those fun, random splatters? I think not. The translucent embossing over top is a nice touch.
ReplyDeleteUsing paint to paint... what shenanigans will you be up to next?! Cool that you tried it and can cross it off your list. I have several options of shimmery paints in my life and I don't paint at all. I have the Twinkling H2Os all packaged to go to my stamp club meeting to find new homes. I haven't totally made that same decision with some of my other shimmery paint options. But someday..! Anyway, about your card, its nice enough and I like the shiny subtle patterned and textured background.
ReplyDeletewell, i LOVE both of these, but i completely understand your feelings. and i confess to having had a couple of sets of watercolors for quite some time before i really used them v much. & i've had plenty of other craft items that i bought and never warmed to before realizing, "i just don't like to... (place crafty verb here) ...all that much!"
