Sketch + Color

By now you know my go-to "thing" is a sketch challenge. It totally jump-starts my mojo. I chose this sketch posted at Skipping Stones Designs:

I also kinda liked this week's color combination at CR84FN:

So I attempted to do them both on one card, and this is what came out:

I cheated on the sketch by using striped paper. For the color challenge, the green and blue are in the paper and the yellow is one of the three twines I used. I tried a version of this with a yellow strip under the twine, and I pretty much hate intensely dislike it, so you won't even see that one.

I used a Jennifer McGuire trick for the "layers", and used thin strips of black card stock instead of a full layer under the patterned paper. It makes the card lighter-weight, plus it's easy and economical - BONUS!

I just had another idea for this color combination, too. It's World Card-Making Day, so I'll be stamping a bunch, and I'll be back to show off anything I think is blog-worthy. :)

Thanks for stopping by!
