WOYWW 10/03/2012 + A Trip Report

[ETA: Linked to WOYWW.]

I am in the middle of nowhere for a girls' week, and we brought our respective crafts to teach each other so we can grow as women. We won't mention the Mac & Geez that we ate to fill the crafting void that also helped us grow, though in a different way. And I don't think that walk we took helped much.

So anyway, there is a huge Dining Room table here we've commandeered as our craft room, and that's what I'll show you today.

Here is the Jewelry end of the table:

See all those organized boxes of gems and beads, and the neat little pile of tools? *ahem* I made these:

Then we tried stamping. Here is the stamping station:

This is after just two cards each, too. When I couldn't decide what tools to bring, I just grabbed my tool holders and took them as they were on my desk. It was easier. HOW can I make such a mess?! Sigh.

My pal Bunny made her first two cards. Here is her first one:

and here's the one I made along with her to show her the step-by-step:

I thought it would be easy to focus on pretty paper and the mix of patterns and color. I can tell we already have different styles!

Here is her second card:

I wanted to show her layering and the flexibility of placement of the rectangles. And balance -- twine to go with the plainer paper to counteract the busy patterned paper.

Here's mine I made along with her:

I think she dd GREAT for her first attempt. Later we'll try washi tape and heat embossing. :)

In other news, we took a walk to check out the Fall foliage. Here is a not-so-good photo of the trees:

and poorly zoomed-in:

As a final, crushing blow, can you believe Bunny would not buy me this house:

I was sad.

But I shall drown my sorrows in some Mac & Geez plus some Jalapeno Poppers. A girl needs a balanced diet, right?

That's it for now. Thanks for stopping by!

  8. Man, some friends. She wouldn't buy that house? I would have been sad too. Bunny kicked butt for her first 2 cards, and your earrings rock. They're green, and I like that in jewelry :)

  9. It's a lovely house. But Bunny was right...it's too in the middle of nowhere for you...at least I think that's what she would have said? Your cards are ace, and a great way for someone to pick up design techniques, brilliant idea.
