Tulip Thanks

When I watch any video by Jennifer McGuire, I'm usually enabled to need some of what she uses. I've been pretty strong lately, but I did cave and get the dies she used here. Then I needed to justify that purchase, so I CASEd her second card. It had to be done. Here is my version:

The tulips came out more like candy corn, but I think that's because I colored all of one color first, then went to the second color. If I'd done one flower at a time, I think the ink would have been wetter and blended better. Wait, I meant to do that. There, that's better.

I did not cover the whole thing in Glossy Accents like she did, though I did cover it all with Wink of Stella. I was going to emboss a heart for the center, but instead I found a piece of SU brushed silver card stock next to my paper cutter, so I punched it out with my MS heart punch and just glued it on instead. I am so lazy. I did cover the heart with Glossy Accents. Hey, I needed to wait for something to dry.

Here is my attempt to show you the shiny on this card:

And I have to tell you: If Jennifer hadn't shown us that those green squares are really overlapping leaves, I never would have figured it out on my own. I just didn't see it.

I'm really into the die-cut inlays these days, and I'd intended to nestle this baby into a white layer - even had it all cut out, but then I decided it looked better on a colored base, so I used some Shallows card stock.

All in all, I'm pretty happy with how this turned out. Next, I think I need to play with the tulip parts die I also got along with this one, so you'll see this again very soon. :)

Thanks for stopping by!

Products used: Silver card stock from SU, Martha Stewart Heart Confetti punch, and the following:

  1. I think you did a marvelous job on this one and I am more partial to yellows and oranges than the blues and teals Jennifer used. Ya, the leaf thing...hard to see.

  2. This die is so not my style but it called out to me... I really like it. It is quite interesting and I like what you and Jennifer have done with it. It reminds me of Nordic sweaters... not that they have tulips on them but well, it does.

  3. That's gorgeous! I almost had to have that one, too, but changed my mind. I like what you've done with it.
