CASEing Jennifer McGuire (again)

That Jennifer McGuire is so full of fantastic ideas, she's fun to CASE, don't you agree? For the last day of the recent Online Card Classes: Holiday Card workshop 2014 class, she showed us a resist technique using paint. I liked it so much I CASEd her idea!

Here's the first one I made:

I stamped the wreath onto white card stock with Picket Fence Distress Paint. I actually stamped four of them and set them aside to dry.

Once dry, I added Mowed Lawn Distress ink to the wreath, then added Peacock Feathers and Salty Ocean.  I spritzed the panel with homemade pearlized water*, and set it aside to dry.

When dry, I put the panel onto a white card base, and ran some skinny gold washi tape down the sides. For my last act, I added some Liquid Pearls to the wreath, and I didn't wear much of it!

I made a second one the same way, except I used Evergreen Bough for the wreath instead of Mowed Lawn:

This one has a little less contrast between the green and the blue. Here they are side-by-each so you can compare for yourself:

Then I had another idea, but it failed me, so that piece of paper is now trash. So is the fourth one, since I managed to get ink all over it. I'm batting 50% today.

But the failed #3 led to this next idea, so it was worth it:

I stamped the wreath on a piece of wood patterned paper I can't seem to leave in the closet. This was a lot less messy than blending all that green and blue ink, and I think I could probably make 10 more of them before I got tired. You may be looking at my 2014 holiday card.:)

I'm going back in to play some more. We got 4" of snow today, and at 3 pm I'm still in my jammies. I'm not going anywhere today.

Thanks for stopping by!

* Pearlized water a la Jennifer McGuire: Fill a mister bottle about 3/4 of the way with water, then add some Perfect Pearl to the water. Drop in a bead or a pearl, cover, and shake. You now have pearlized water. You can add as much or as little as you'd like. You can add it to colored sprays, too. SO many options!

Stuff I used: A Muse wood sentiment stamp, and the following:

  1. You have outdone yourself this time! These are stunning. How did you get those Liquid Pearls so perfect?? Mine always have little tips on them, even if I thump the card like it says to do. Great job!

  7. Fab cards, love your versions. I really like the evergreen bough version the best. I like the subtle color differences.

I really love the one on the wood planking paper, nicely done.

We are heading toward your neck of the woods next week...but more towards the north west side of the state.

Aren't pajama days wonderful -- truly one of the unsung perks of retirement!
