The Colonel, In the Library, With a Candlestick

Today I pulled out another one of my new Frantic Stamper dies - Love Cats. Can you see why I needed this to come live with me?

I decided to CASE myself and do another "cat sitting in window" card, and I made this:

This started, of course, with the cats. I cut it out of two different papers and hand-trimmed one of the brown to fit over the black pair, giving me two different colored cats. Don't you love how their tails form a heart?

Since I actually thought this card out before I dove in, I thought I'd show you how I made the window scene. I used the Grand Madison Window for a change. I almost always use the Small Madison Window, but these cats are BIG, so they got the bigger window. :)

I started with one of the die-cut windows, and left the window panes in place. Then I did my sponging and stamping:

It didn't matter that I slopped over onto the window frame since I was just going to use the panes. By leaving them in place, this was crazy easy. The washi tape you see is holding the panes in place. The stamped trees are the only stamping on the card. I like to make generic cards sometimes that can be used for any occasion.

To assemble the card, I first glued down one of the window frames:

then added in the four panes:

Perfect fit! :)

Then I took my remaining window frames (I cut a bunch), glued them together with a layer of acetate, and put them over the first window frame. For my last act, I glued the kitties' butts to the window and stuck a mini glue dot under each of their faces to hold them in place.

Here's the finished card again:

That piece of patterned paper was lying next to my paper trimmer, so it got used. It's from the Lawn Fawn Dewey Decimal 6x6 paper pack, and I never know what to do with the books page, so here you go! It's a window in the library. This should also explain my post title, and hopefully at least one of you gets the reference.

I'll be back shortly with a few more cards I've managed to create. Thanks for stopping by!

Stuff I used: SU Lovely As A Tree stamp set, Frantic Stamper Love Cats die, and the following:

  1. What a cute card this is! I love the kitties looking out the window and that paper is perfect for the background.

  2. Leslie, I did catch a CLUE from your title.

Love this card. Especially enjoyed the step by step. I think the added acetate panel really gives a good window feel. I am getting closer and closer to getting my window dies out.

Reminds me of my Dad's two almost cats. They are from two different litters but they are the best of pals.

  3. I love your card and all your commentary. The title was what first caught my eye (I LOVE Clue!), but your wit and talent keep me coming back for more. You are such a delight! Thanks for sharing all that you do!
