Jingle Belles 13-01 - Something New

[If you're looking for today's SOS challenge post, please scroll down or click here.]

It's January 1st, and that means the beginning of a new year of challenges over at Jingle Belles Rock! This year I've decided to try and keep up with a few Christmas challenge blogs, mostly because my lack of craft shows means I don't make ANY holiday cards, and this way I can play along and use my small collection of holiday items. I need to justify their existence in my stash, you know.

I think I'll also mix things up a bit now and then and do non-traditional stuff, because that's the kind of gal I am. Case in point: The first challenge - Look What Santa Brought Me! - asks us to use something from our new crafty stash. How fortuitous that I just received some goodies from Simon Says Stamp, and needed an excuse to use them.

Here is my card, then I'll explain:

I love Gus. Well, I assume this is Gus. Hmmm, maybe it really IS Santa. Did you maybe notice the orange and turquoise? Yeah, that's because I wanted to play the challenge from Viva La Verve, which includes this inspiration photo:

I remembered orange and turquoise, but I may need to play again with orange and teal. ANYway, this is why Santa's outfit is turquoise.

For the Jingle Belles' challenge, my Hero Arts Tweed stamp and the Hero Arts Shadow Ink in Soft Cantaloupe are both new, right out of the box. And even though this stamp set is old, I'm not sure I've ever used it.

Yeah, I'm definitely going to have to play again with orange and teal.

Thanks for stopping by!

  2. Cute! It reminds me of the old 99 bottles of beer on the wall. I have the tweed stamp sitting on my craft table ready to ink up, and now I need the Soft Cantaloupe ink. sigh.

  5. Love the card! That's my kind of Santa Claus. I think teal and turquoise are pretty darn close really. I like the swap idea too--because gosh knows we often get new stuff and then don't play with it right away. Or is that just me?
