Kitteh Happy Birthday

The other day I was playing with my Simon Says Stamp Furry Cat & Box. The stamped image started out on a whole white panel, but ended up a small square.

Here's the card, then I'll explain:

It all started with me stamping the image onto a piece of MAMBI remnant (yes, I still have some of that stuff left) and fussy-cutting out the box.  I stamped the image again (three times) onto a piece of Neenah White Linen card stock. I colored one of them, then fussy-cut the cats and tails.

I stamped the image onto a white panel, glued on the box, then layered all the cat parts. Then I looked at it for a few days.

When I saw the current OWH sketch:

I decided to cut down the image to use it as the white square of the sketch. I had an unfortunate glue schmear in the bottom right corner, so to disguise it I stamped the ball of yarn from my Paper Smooches Nine Lives set and colored it with three Copics. It's not part of the sketch, but no one said things couldn't be added as long as the sketch is recognizable.

For the top two sketch elements, I was originally going to stamp the Happy in a speech bubble and stamp the Birthday on the panel itself, but I found that more difficult to execute than it happened in my brain. In the end I stamped the sentiment and die-cut it with one of the speech bubbles from my Lawn Fawn Chit Chat dies. That set of dies is awesome - so many sizes of speech bubbles, in both directions.

So, in the end I took a few liberties with the sketch, but I still made this card in the spirit of the sketch, so I'm going to be bold and link up anyway.

Lucky for you I'm all challenged out, well, at least until Monday. I'm sure there will be more.

Thanks for stopping by!

Stuff I used: SU Basic Black card stock, MAMBI card stock remnant, and the following:

  1. The sketch is just a starting point, at least that is the way I look at it. I think this card came out very nice. Love the dimensional look. I think as card makers we have all become experts at hiding boo boos. LOL Enjoy your week.

  2. Leslie, I am a card-carrying member of the spirit-of-the-sketch support group! Love the paper-piecing on this adorable card... and great what a fun way to cover up an oops. :)

  3. I like this and your paper pieced box. In the spirit of the sketch is okay dokey in my book! Those chit chat dies are on my wish list for sure (after I discovered the only speech bubble I had was a punch one).
