I needed a card for a 16-year-old boy (young man), and I took the opportunity to work on that during last weekend's crafty play date.
I'd watched this video and this video by Lydia Fiedler about how to use the MISTI like a gigantic Stamp-A-Ma-Jig, only better. I thought I'd play with the idea for my masculine card, and this is what came out:
I could NEVER have lined that stamp up by myself, even with a SAMJ. I might have squeed when it worked.
I used three blues from Simon Says Stamp: Island Blue, Audrey Blue, and Maliblue. Then all I had to do was figure out what to do with the stamped panel! (You should know by now I back into these things.) I ended up trimming it and layering it on a piece of Island Blue card stock.
I stamped the sentiment in Island blue and layered it with a remnant of Island Blue for the banner. Easy. A few white enamel dots and it was done.
Oh, and in the links below I link to Amazon for the plastic quilting sheet I used with the MISTI, but I got mine at Joann's.
So, that's all the cards I made during my crafty play date. I guess I'd better get back to the craft room and get to work!
Thanks for stopping by!
The card looks fabulous and I am looking forward to getting my MISTI today. I will be spending a lot of time watching YouTube videos, I'm sure. psssst...check the spelling on the title of the post :-)
ReplyDeleteEven with a stamp liner-upper-thingy I can't get things lined up. Your abilities are astounding! No really. Love the colors... ombre or whatever they call that these days.
ReplyDeleteMy personal groan--is making cards for males between the ages of 8 and 25....gag....and I am blessed with nephews and a godson smack in the middle of that range...years and years of groaning ahead- clearly...though hubs reminds me...they only really care about the check inside. LOL! - perspective.
ReplyDeleteI think I watched that video just yesterday, today my misti arrived GIDDY. Now I need to reorganize my space. Tomorrow I was headed out Jo-Ann's way so good to know they may possibly have the vinyl templates.
Oh ya, your card - It is perfect for a young man. Love the blues and your graphic pattern could not be more perfect!
Perfect for a 16 year old! I guess I need a MISTI. Sigh.
