OWH Sketch #180

Today I played the current OWH sketch challenge:

which, of course, I turned on its ear:

and made this:

(sorry about the glare)

This card was driven by that white sticky note grid-patterned thing with the tandem bike on it. It's from a set of notes I picked up a few moths ago, and I selected it as my victim for this sketch. I thought it would be perfect as one of the two rectangles.

Then I chose the (gah) pink polka dot paper from a pack of Simple Stories papers. The cool thing about these papers is they come with sheets of things you'd use for scrapbooking or Project Life, which I don't do, but that never stopped me from buying anything. I usually just don't use those pages. However, this worked perfectly for me today.

I thought the tandem bike and the Together at the top of the faux BINGO card were pushing me to a "You & Me" theme, so I spent some time flipping through my sentiments until I realized I didn't have a "You & Me" or anything close that would fit on that tiny piece of paper. I needed to get creative.

Enter: the sheet of sticky words I have that I've never used. It had a You and an &, but no Me. But it did have the word Shimmer, which I know I'll never use, and Shimmer has the ME combination, so ... WIN!

The tandem bicycle sticky thing came with a handsome scalloped bottom edge, but I wanted it shorter, so I used a punch to shorten it. Not feeling the love there.

Overall, I do like the card, though, and I'm happy with my stampy day. Now I need to go be domestic for a while.

Thanks for stopping by!

  1. I love your interpretation of the sketch. The tandem bike and the sentiment bingo card work perfectly together.

  2. I'm always a fan of polka dots and think how you used the scrapbooking elements was really clever! Like you, I usually skip those pages, in the paper packs, but you really made them work!

  5. Love how you turned the sketch and used some pre-made elements for the rectangles. I have some Simple Stories pads and those little tags/elements are so cute but difficult to get onto cards! Love your idea - I'll definitely be checking out my stash!
