Jingle Belles ROCK!

I don't make New Year's resolutions, but I did decide late last year (probably about the time I was designing my holiday cards) that this year I'd play the Jingle Belles Christmas challenges.Their first challenge for 2014 is to use something old AND something new.

Here is my card:

For my "new" element, I used some yummy MME papers and American Crafts stickers sent to me by the lovely Lauren herself! Thanks, Missus! My "old" is the green button (which I think matches the green in the papers perfectly) and twine, both from SU and both several years old.

I followed the current Deconstructed Sketch:

I was kinda pleased that one of the stickers almost perfectly matched the papers I chose. I didn't want to cover it up, so I stamped part of an A Muse sentiment onto some cardstock-weight vellum so it was transparent. Because nothing dries on vellum*, I was able to heat-emboss it even though it was regular dye ink. Love it!

The button allowed me to not stress over the adhesive, since it would be covered. Sweet. Oh, and the vellum is probably older than the button and twine. I've had that stuff since it was invented, I think.

My goal for 2014 is to use the plethora of Christmas stamps, papers and dies I have in my collection. It's a noble goal, non? Let's see how I do. So far I'm one-for-one.

Thanks for stopping by!

* Okay, some things do dry on vellum, but not many. Plus, I like the color options of using dye inks and embossing them, so there.

Products used: A Muse Essential Sentiments, cardstock-weight vellum, vat of clear embossing powder, SU heat gun, SU button and twine, mini glue dots, and the following:
