SOS #174: Halloween

It's Tuesday, and time for a new challenge at Shopping Our Stash. This week's theme is Halloween, and we'd like you to either make a Halloween card OR make a card using Halloween colors (orange, black, green, purple, etc.)

I went with the Halloween theme, mostly because I bought a stamp set for just the cat image, and I really needed to justify the rest of the set. Here's my card:

I tried to photograph it several times, but it always came out this dark. Well, I did darken all the card stock with distressing, so maybe it really is a dark card.

This all started with that piece of purple embossed card stock I pulled from my Recollections pack of Halloween card stock. I immediately darkened it with Seedless Preserves and Chipped Sapphire to make a night sky.

Then I stamped my Hanna Stamps brick wall onto a remnant of burgundy card stock, using my trusty Elderberry Luxe ink, and clear embossed it. I then went over that with Fired Brick, and when it didn't darken enough, I went over it again with Seedless Preserves. It's dark, people.

Then I got to work on the images. I stamped the cat, the hat, and the moon, and colored them with Copics. I was so smart and die-cut the cat and hat, but then I realized the white edge was not going to work, so I had to fussy-cut them after all. Pffth.

After I assembled the cat + hat and sat him on the wall, I felt I needed to fill the empty on the bottom right, so I stamped, colored and fussy-cut the pumpkin.

I added the moon last, but not before I thought it would be a good idea to add a circle of white behind it. It might not have been my best decision, but it is what it is.

I wanted to put the panel on a white base, so to tone it down I added some washi tape down the edges of the card front before I added the panel.

For my last act, I added Wink of Stella to the pumpkin's eyes and mouth, enhanced the cat's eyes with a black glaze pen, and called it finished.

So, wanna play along? Why not pop on over to SOS and see what my teammates have cooked up, and maybe you'll be inspired to join us.

Thanks for stopping by!

Stuff I used: Recollections Boo Who paper pad, Little B Washi tape, Hanna Stamps brick wall, vat of clear embossing powder, and the following:
