This is the first card I made. It did not work out the way I had it in my head, but it is close.
I stamped the bear with Versamark on Sahara Sand card stock and embossed it in white. When I cut it out, I left a small border of Sahara Sand showing. This is (in my brain) like coloring with Copics and drawing a shadow border around the whole image.
I originally had that top paper flipped on the other side, but when I turned it over to tape it, I liked the back better, so it stayed. Happy accident! I think it looks like the night sky!
Recipe (all Stampin' Up!): Stamps - Cold & Cuddly (Holiday Mini); Paper - Sahara Sand, Taken With Teal, Whisper White, Holiday Lounge DSP; Ink - Taken With Teal, Versamark; Other - Sm, Lg and Scalloped Oval punches, White EP, White Taffeta ribbon.
This was my second attempt at a card using the same stamp set and papers. The paper at the top is the flip side of the one above. I love the colors - Sahara Sand, Taken With Teal, Ruby Red. I wanted to use the new Mini Catalog ribbon, so I forced the Red issue. Not so sure I am lovin' the way it came out.
Since I already had ribbon, I scalloped the edge of the Teal piece for some interest. No matter what I did for the sentiment, I felt white was wrong, so I ended up just stamping the sentiment on Sahara Sand.
There's lots of potential here ... I just need to find it!
Okay, that's it for the cards. Now on to my next Baby Step in The Other Room. Last night and this morning I just moved around a bunch of 12x12 paper.
This was my collection in the Living Room Overflow Area.
And here is a little more. These are all boxes of SU stuff that is currently homeless, but I am just focusing on the 12x12 papers right now.
I also went through the piles o'stuff in The Other Room and rescued several bags of 12x12 from various shopping events.
Here is one of the old cabinets with all the SU 12x12 papers from the Living Room overflow. I have ordered several more of the 12x12 storage thingies to hold some of it. So where did all that space come from?
All that space appeared when I moved these non-SU storage thingies OUT and put them in the new cabinet. See? I have A Plan! Also notice the pile of 12x12 papers to the left...that came from the bags of miscellaneous shopping events I mentioned above.
The bottom shelf of the new cabinet holds a pile of 12x12 paper stacks, including a bunch of Core'Dinations I have yet to open. I might dip into them today!
The plastic box of stuff on the left is my collection of What Was I Thinking Why Did I Buy This items. Mostly $1 items from Mike's, and mostly things with which I cannot part, so they languish in the box. Moving this box into the cabinet freed up a chair! Woo-hoo!
I tried to sand the now-dry paint rivulets off the wall last night, but alas, I need rougher sand paper, so I decided to not put together the remaining two cabinets yet. Today I think I'll actually go to Chloe's and check on my card inventory. My handyman is supposed to arrive mid-day and install my new screen door (yay!), so it should be a nice, lazy, stampin' day for me here at the old crooked homestead. Hopefully I'll produce something blog-worthy!
Thanks for stopping by!
Love your cards and love the re-org! When are you coming to my house??
ReplyDeleteI haven't even inked 1/10th of my new sets!! Lydia needs a plan!
Maybe you need to use a putty knife/flat scraper to scrape off the paint drips...then sand. Then touch up paint. :)
ReplyDeleteI'm drooling over all of your schtuff!
Enjoy your day !
i love both cards! i'm a sucker for polar bears and for penguins
ReplyDeletethat first card, the designer paper, i think i must have it...i will let you know, srsly, i hear it calling me
Both are cute...that paper does look like the night sky...very cool! I love that Sahara sand too; I like how you bordered polar bear with it.
ReplyDeleteI am liking the progress in TOR :)
I'm amazed at the amount of materials you have and would have an absolute field day if I ever got into the card making business and into your house.
ReplyDeleteOn the polar bear card I'm liking how you left a border of SH when you cut it out.
ReplyDeleteOn the penguin card you made the perfect choice for the sentiment on SH in red.
Good luck with the reorganizing - at least you have a plan and baby steps are just fine!
I love that polar bear (and it does look like a copic type shadow with the SS showing like that), and your penguin is cute :)
ReplyDeleteAs for the re-organisation...baby steps are good :) It seems as though things are going well now. I can't wait to see what you'll come up with on a stampin' day :)
