CPS 161 (and a Sneaky Peek!)

The excitement in SU-Land continues to build! Not only did they announce this week that many of our "Standard 48" colors will be retiring June 30th, but we Demos are also in the throes of our pre-order from the upcoming Summer Mini Catalog. While we are not supposed to show actual stamp sets or catalog images, we are permitted to use our new goodies to make projects and blog them, and hopefully that will, in turn, make you, my beloved 3 (maybe 4) readers, go oooooh and aaaaaah, and I'll tempt you and taunt you into needing the items yourselves. That's the plan, anyway. :-)

I just made this in about 7 minutes:

It uses four (FOUR!) new products: (1) The star is from the Itty Bitty Bits stamp set, which was punched with (2) the circle punch from a 3-punch pack called Itty Bitty Shapes. It also uses (3) some images from the new Go, Graduate stamp set, and (4) the background panel is embossed with the new Square Lattice embossing folder.

The card layout is based on this one:

which is Card Positioning Systems' CPS 161. I think mine would have looked better if I'd made that white panel wider, but eh? It's based on the sketch, k? Oh, and the "7 minutes" is obvious in the way I colored the robes, which I call "tie-dyed" so I can get away with it. As some of my Tweeps would tell me, "It's ART!" Oh, yeah, that one comes in handy in my world. A LOT!

In other news, my Stamp Camps are this weekend, so the Clean Sweep is fast approaching. To complicate matters, since I am in love with about 4 of the many retiring colors, and I reallyreallylike a few of the others, the Hoarding Process has commenced. Lookie what was included in the expedited pre-order that arrived today:

Mmmm-hmmmm, card stock. Here we have (from the bottom up): Close to Cocoa (2 pks), Brocade Blue (my go-to blue), Sage Shadow (the only reason I even KNOW about SU), Mellow Moss (2 pks) Taken With Teal, and Really Rust (2 pks). I like these colors because I use them a lot when layering with patterned papers from other companies, so I thought I'd make sure to have some on hand as I approach Market Season. I know I will fall in love with the new colors, too, but old habits are difficult to break, so hoarding it is! And I am soooo good at it, too.

I hope to get crafty again tomorrow, in between loads of laundry and rounds of Stamp Camp prep and a few errands and RIBS FOR DINNER with BR#2. A full day, indeed.

Thanks for stopping by!

  2. The retiring of Mellow Moss, Sage Shadow and Taken with Teal makes me sad. Taken with Teal is SUCH a unique color....I think SU is insane for retiring that one. Oh, well.

Your card is fab! Love the new background. ;) Looks fun.

  4. OK, you just convinced me that I "need" the new embossing folder *adds to list*! Cute card - I didn't order the little images for with the bitty buttons, but I have the buttons and punches coming! I have all of those sketches tagged in my Google Reader, but when it comes time to actually make something, I never seem to use them! Maybe this weekend I'll do it!! Thanks for sharing your crafty stuff!!
