Da Trees

A while ago, someone posted a card that was embossed trees with a sponged/distressed background. I can't remember who it was, so if it was you, please let me know so I can give you credit!* I immediately thought of an old Cornish Heritage Farms (CHF) backgrounder I have, and said, "One of these days ...". Well, today was that day.

You just know this stamp is ancient, as CHF has been out of business for years. Does anyone know when the Ranger Distress inks were first introduced? I can't find that information online. All I know is they weren't on my radar way back then.

Oh, here's my card, then I'll explain:

I embossed the tree background with Memento Rich Cocoa that is apparently in dire need of reinking. You can see some of the better-inked spots. Oh, wait, I meant to do that.

Then I went over the background with Distress Mustard Seed, Faded Jeans, and Dusty Concord.

Sentiment ... it needed a sentiment. I went with white-embossing one on a strip of Hero Arts brown card stock.

Maybe not my best work, but it was nice playing with an old friend, and now I know I need reinkers.

Thanks for stopping by!

*Edited to add: It was Cat's post here that inspired my card. Thanks, Cat!

Stuff I used: CHF Tree Backgrounder, vat (a pint) of clear embossing powder from Viva Las Vegas Stamps, and the following:

  1. Was it mine? http://catluvspaper.blogspot.com/2015/05/a-long-time-coming.html Honored that you like it enough to make something inspired by it. The pic looks a bit greyed out as if it is still in highlight mode, is that possible?

  4. You totally meant to ink it like that, I can tell. The background is quite awesome. As is the card itself, of course. ;)
