My Precious. You have to say that like Gollum, and rub your hands together. No, I didn't see the Lord of the Rings movies or The Hobbit, but I did read them back when I was a pup. Actually, one year when I was away at Girl Scout camp, one of the counselors read to us from The Hobbit as we sat around the campfire at night, and she sounded totally like Gollum does in the movie. She was way ahead of her time.
ANYway, welcome to another Shopping Our Stash challenge! This week we ask you to use something you've been hoarding with no plans to ever use it. Ever, as in they'll have to pry it from your cold, dead hands. That ever. Come on, you know you have something you won't ever touch. Pretty paper? Special embellishment? A piece of delicate ribbon? Yeah, THAT.
In my world, where much is hoarded, I recently did a major paper purge and cleared out most of my 12x12 patterned papers. In the process I re-discovered a cache of fabric papers, and those went right into the KEEP THIS UNTIL YOU DIE pile. I have two pieces each of two of the patterns, and three of another, so that last one was sacrificed for the challenge.
Here's the card I made:
I wanted the fabric paper to be the star of the show, so I only added a simple sentiment to it. I used my handy SU Color Coach to find a color to go with Burgundy, and Baja Breeze it was, so I colored two pearls with a Copic marker, added them and called it done.
Here's a close-up of the paper:
It's like pre-printed sticky-back canvas. Love.
Now it's YOUR turn. Go into your stash and find that special something that you've decided to never use, then use it. You're allowed to weep a bit; that's actually to be expected. Then finish your project and come back to Shopping Our Stash to link us up so we can see what you've made!
Thanks for stopping by!

ReplyDelete(ps: you know you can ink-jet PRINT on sticky-back canvas, right? (well, depending on how picky your printer is; but mine is sometimes a bear and yet has NO PROBS with CH canvas... just think of all those digi papers you could be not-hoarding!!!!!) :) :) :)
ps: i think andy serkis (golum) is about our age... that camp counselor wasn't british and a bit androgenous, was she...????! (just wonderin'...) :) :) :)
ReplyDeleteI'm thinking I would have probably been hoarding this canvas like paper too!! Awesome....AND i love the CAS design you used for it. Outstanding.

Love the simplicity and the recipient will love the added texture. Who, pray tell, do you give your old 12x12 paper to? I need some ideas. :-)
