For the Faux Tole challenge I made this:
I busted out my new Simon Says Stamp Scribble Flowers and matching dies and used them as flowers this time. :) After I stamped the colored circles and black outlines, I die-cut them. Then I dug out an old mouse pad and used a stylus on the backs to make the edges curl so the center of the flower is puffed up. It took a while, but it's pretty neat looking! I filled the centers with varying levels of foam tape and arranged them in the center of yet another random water color background that was laying on my desk.
Once the flowers were arranged, I die-cut a bunch of stems and stuck them on, tucking them under the raised flowers. I then thought there were so. many. stems, so I needed to cover them up with a sentiment. I added foam to the water color panel and stuck it to the card front. Then, since we'd been granted additional time for this challenge due to its futzy technique, I die-cut some leaves, scored some lines with my stylus, and added them to complete the card.
Here's a close-up of some of the dimension:
The next challenge was Wish on a Star, so I opted to use a long-drying technique of embossing paste and a stencil. ;/ While that dried, I FOUND MY MISSING STAMP, so I made another card for the Inspired By A Book challenge:
See? I knew I had it! This card took me maybe 10 minutes total to make. Stamp, die-cut, color and attach to yet another left-over water color background. Done. That base is also a mystery base from my pal who unloaded her craft room into mine.
Ready for the star-themed card? Here you go:
I think maybe I should have had those wood veneer stars slop over into the big blue empty on the left, but other than that, it was pretty quick and easy to make. I stamped the sentiment and heart in Hero Arts Navy ink, then colored two of the heart's stripes with a red Distress marker. And NO GLITTER so it can be an OWH card. BONUS! :)
I might have burned out on these rapid-fire challenges. The last one posts at 8:00 pm tonight, so I have five more to do. I'll finish them up tomorrow and get them posted before the deadline. I think you should check it out. :)
Thanks for stopping by!
Stuff I used: Misc water color paper cut from huge pages of the stuff, inked background made with various Distress inks and an acrylic block, stylus, 1998 Edward Gorey For Kids Stamps (cat on books), and the following:
Fabulous trio of fun cards.
ReplyDeleteI LOVE these - especially the abstract flowers! And a pal who unloaded her craft room into yours? That's a great pal to have. Hug Bobra for me!
