Inset Die-Cut Shapes

I played with another technique I've seen around the Blogosphere: Inset die-cut shapes. I first saw it employed here, then tonight I read this post about it, so what choice did I have but to try it and get it out of my system? I just made this:

Well I started out with the technique, but then I reverted to my old ways. I cut the numbers out of a piece of white card stock, then cut them again from a scrap of River Rock DSP. Yes, I know the 9 is crooked. Sigh. Then I replaced the white numbers with the striped ones. They nestle so nicely! :)

The letters in "again" were cut out of another piece of River Rock DSP and just stuck to the white - not inset. Same with the black flourishy thing above. There's something about black and white and River Rock that I've always loved. I'm so happy this color came back to stay!

I might play with this inset idea some more this weekend. Definite possibilities!
