One thing I miss about giving classes is the witty banter and snappy repartee of The Ladies. Most of you in this biz can appreciate how much fun it is to gather with a bunch of like-minded people, even if they are total strangers, and feel that instant bond that getting inky can give you.
One session we were making a Thank You card at one of the stations. I liked to offer to get other sentiment sets to allow them to change out the sentiment if they wanted to. At the Thank You station that month, someone asked if I had something besides a Thank You, since she didn't send many Thank You cards because she's "not all that grateful. In fact, people should be thanking ME." OMG, I still quote it, it was so funny.
I'm telling you this because I'm feeling thankful lately. I just am, so I've made two Thank You cards today. I've already posted the first one, and now I've managed to kill three hours making another. Here it is:
I stamped a flower from The Craft's Meow Stitched Flowers set three times on Neenah Solar White card stock, colored them with Copics, then fussy-cut them out. I also stamped one of the leaves 6 times (so much for the rule of odd numbers ...), colored them and cut it out as one piece. I poked holes in all the pieces, then threaded a piece of twine through all of them, and eventually through the layer of dotted paper. There is dimensional adhesive between all the layers, too, and also under each of the leaves. This is what might have taken me three hours.
At this point it got a simple sentiment and I called it done.
Thanks for stopping by!

ReplyDeleteI totally know what you mean about like minded people. Something about the crafty peeps, we're kind-of snarky and I love it! Gorgeous card, that flower is beautiful!
ReplyDeleteomg! i love that story!!! toooooo funny! love this card, as well, that stacked flower is tottttttttally tempting me to go look at the stamps! (excpet that i WONT b/c the stamps i already own-- and rarely use, ahem-- are sitting in a box in the art lair now, having not even been put away, so i think all existing artsy personnels need to find homes before new recruits are considered. yeah!!!)
