SCC2, Week 1, Day 5 Homework

Let me begin by saying (1) this is not what I started out to make, and (2) this is not my best work. I plan to try again tomorrow. HOWEVER, it's been a long week at the Day Job, and the idea of an unlimited happy hour amused me. Here's my card, then I'll explain:

As is my usual MO, I start out a project by checking out the s-crap left on or near my desk. Tonight I spied the sketches for Week 1 of class, and my unopened pack of Lil' Inker Stitched Circle dies. The cool thing about these dies is that in addition to the stitched edge around the circle they cut out, they also cut/emboss the stitching on the part of the card left behind. SO cool. Right then I decided that element of my card would be a circle, and it went from there.

I had a piece of that teal ... er, tonight it's more green *ahem* ... card stock out, so I decided to use Row 5 of the bonus color combos*. Then I went in search of "something rose pink-ish", and ended up with a piece of wine-themed paper from The Heaplet.

My acetate window could be someone looking in at a party. Well, could be. I embossed the window with the bottom part of my Sizzix/Hero Arts Stripes and Frame embossing folder to get the stripes.

The strip of card stock at the bottom of the green piece is the flip side of the green. I'm almost - ALMOST - done with it.

I added the sentiment and a button to anchor it, and a few sequins to balance it out.

Wow, I'm 5 for 5 this week. Color me impressed. *pats self on back* :)

Thanks for stopping by!

* I was at the mercy of the colors my printer printed, so I'm more than a little bit "off" on the colors, but my intentions were good!

Products used: Misc teal/green card stock, misc wine-themed paper, acetate from some packaging, Lil' Inker Stitched Circle dies, SU Natural Cream (I think) card stock, misc button, Neat & Tangled sequins, Nestabilities circle dies, SU Linen thread, and the following:

  1. I love the sentiment on this card. I could drink to that... Your stitched circle die is bringing out the want monster in me, too. *shakes fist* Good job on your latest homework assignment.

  3. Again with the sequins and the stitched dies - you're killin' me. I love the card. The embossed acetate is wonderful.

  4. You're something else--those descriptions crack me up! I love your card -- especially the window, where people might be peeking in!
