December VSN, Part Second

Here are a few more cards I made this past weekend for VSN over on Splitcoast.

This challenge was called Layer it On!, and our hostess said, "... it made me think how we layer on the clothing to keep warm as the weather layers on the ice, snow, rain, slush... !! My challenge is……for you to make a card or project with at least SIX LAYERS! The card base counts.... Also, this is at any point on the card... not the whole card being six layers... "

Layers, eh? Well guess what was still out on my desk? My already cut-up flower from MelStampz, and a silhouette image I'd bought and cut. They both screamed USE ME, so I obliged and made this:

(It's a little out-of-focus at the bottom - your eyes are fine.) I rubbed the edges of the flower layers in Rich Razzleberry before I layered them and added the bling to the center. I cut an oval from a scrap of SU DSP and edged it in Rich Razzleberry, too, and used it behind the ladies. The string o'bling is from some SU bling I got a few mini-catalogs ago - I just opened it. ;/

Next challenge, we have FaLaLaLaLa, where our hostess said, "This VSN theme, Winter Wonderland, made me think of the song "Walking in a Winter Wonderland." Christmas music definitely helps get me into the winter and Christmas spirit! My challenge focuses on music! Create a winter or Christmas card and incorporate music. Some ideas: use a music-themed stamp, paper with music on it, or even a sentiment with a line from your favorite song."

Well, I started looking through my stack of parts-is-parts on the right side of my desk, and I found a small strip of music paper! I also found three pieces of scalloped DSP, a 1/2 sheet of A Muse card stock, a coordinating piece of DSP to go with the scallops, and a piece of craft wood. This is what came out:

I was embarrassed, it was so easy. All I did was layer it all together and add the ribbon. Seriously. Okay, I opened another never-used die to cut the wood. *wipes sweat from brow*

The next challenge card I did was for Blue Christmas where our hostess said, "Let's see all of your holiday creations being made with blue." Blue, eh? Well lookie what came out of that bag of paper I tripped over and finally went to put away:

Okay, okay, ONE piece of virgin paper gave it's life for one of my VSN cards. But it did ALL THE WORK for me! I added layers, ribbon and a sentiment. Done! And it's very shiny, too! :)

That it for show-and-tell today. I'll post the rest later this week.

Thanks for stopping by!

  3. Love them all but I have to say that my favorite is the virgin paper one. I love it when the paper does all of the heavy lifting.
