ABNH: Recycle it!

Hello there! It's time for our mid-month challenge at A Blog Named Hero. This time we'd like you to up-cycle or recycle something. Think: cardboard packaging, a cardboard cup sleeve, paper towel roll, a piece of aluminum foil, junk mail, etc.

We're also collaborating with Lawn Fawn this month:

so you'll see their images mixed in with our beloved Hero Arts.

For my recycle item, I went through the recycle bag (just to get ideas, mind you) in my kitchen and spied some jars and yogurt containers.  That gave me the idea to use a K-Cup from my coffee-maker. I used a new one so it was still clean, but now it's not since I used the bottom of it to make this:

I inked up the bottom of the K-Cup with Hero Arts neon inks and stamped them over a piece of white card stock. Then I stamped the Lawn Fawn sentiment in black.

Before stamping, I poked a hole in the top of the K-Cup to let in some air and remove some of the poof, but the center of the bottom still protruded enough to pick up some ink. That's why you see some dots in the centers of the circles. This is where I'd normally say I meant to do that, but really, I didn't. I actually tried to think of a way to stamp something over it, but then I decided I'd be done a lot sooner if I just embraced the dots, so I did.

Since I don't have any neon paper (I KNOW!), I made my own by doing direct-to-paper with the orange neon ink. Pretty easy, and a perfect match!

Why not play along with us?   There's a Simon Says Stamp gift card up for grabs for one lucky player.

Go check out your "this should be trash" stuff and use something to make a card or other project. We'd love to see what you make!

Thanks for stopping by!

Stuff I used: K-Cup, and the following:

  1. You are missing colours of paper? Wut? lol! I love the unintended bits - makes it funky!

  2. I like that your neon ink and paper isn't too neon-y. No sense in blinding people. Great simple card design. And of course you meant to do that!

I'd love to hear what you really think! :-)
