Rockin' Robin

This weekend I'm away from home at a crafty retreat, and I've actually made a few cards! I find I need to do a few challenges to keep some sort of focus so I don't just sit here and drool.

This card started with the current Less Is More challenge to use little critters. I then took the current Freshly Made Sketches sketch:

and my new Rockin' Robin stamps from Clearly Besotted, because there's a row of three cute robins that needed to meet some ink.  To make my idea work, I rotated and flipped the sketch like this:

and here, finally, is my card:

First I layered up the papers and blew the whole Less Is More thing, but that didn't stop me.

The Bokeh/dotted paper is supposed to be snow, but really, I just love the color of the paper. When I stamped the swirly music and the sentiment (love that font!), it turned out wider than the panel, but I declared that to be ART and went with it.

I stamped the row of robins on a separate piece of paper, colored them, then fussy-cut them, leaving a narrow strip with which to attach them to the sentiment strip.  It's not the cleanest solution, but I was NOT going to fussy-cut those feet. There's a piece of foam tape behind each robin to they're popped up.

I bought this set to use the big birds, so I hope to get to that later this weekend. Stay tuned!

Thanks for stopping by!

  7. Oh my gosh! Your card is so cool. You rocked it with your robins when you turned that design around. That was just what that needed.
