Meowy Christmas

I made this card for two challenges.

I got the colors from the CAS Colours & Sketches challenge:

and the sketch from The Paper Players:

I water colored a piece of Distress water color paper with Peacock Feathers, Festive Berries, and Weathered Wood.

I wanted to use my new-to-me kitty stamps and dies, and I thought I'd just put the kitty on a tag. I don't do tags very often, and I have very few tag dies, though they are easy enough to make if you don't care how fancy the top is. It turned out my one tag die set had a good-sized tag that just fit the kitty.  I colored the kitty and present with Copics, then glued everything together.

For the Metallic Silver color, I used a silver glitter gelly pen to color the present's ribbon. In real life (and if I had a better photographer), it's quite shiny:

You can also see where I colored outside the lines. The colorless blender couldn't save me, even with the brown. And forget the red -- I'm pretty sure the people at Copic formulated the reds so they are impervious to the colorless blender.

At this point, I'd pretty much disqualified myself from the CAS part of the color challenge. Sigh.

For the banner, I stamped the sentiment in back using my MISTI. Good thing, too. It took about five tries to get it completely stamped, probably because it's water color paper.

The white banner looked weird, so I water colored it with Peacock Feathers.

Question du jour: How is it possible that I have 49672 miles of bakers' twine, and not the right color? I bought mine when you had to buy the whole 240-yard spool (smaller quantities and sampler packs weren't yet offered), so I have LOTS of twine. This Caribbean color is better than the Aqua/Teal, as it's a bit greener, but it's still not quite right.

Generally, I can tie a bow like nobody's business -- eight years of teaching other people how to do it helps keep one nimble. But I do have one issue: one of my loops always gets twisted. Always. So I fought back today and glued down the loops with dots of Matte Multi Medium. It's not going anywhere.

For my last act, I added a few shiny silver sequins. Did you know that the thing that makes the matte medium so cool (that it dries clear and matte) completely un-shines the sequins? Ask me how I know. :(

I made another card that I'll share in a while.

Thanks for stopping by!

Update: This card was a DT Selection at Paper Players!

Some of the stuff I used: Caribbean twine from The Twinery, Copics (0, RV11, E49, E74, E71, R22, R35), and the following:

Respect for the card, as well! It has a tag! And more importantly, a cat.
