The other day I made two sympathy cards. I had cut enough of the papers to make 3 of the smaller ones, but I hadn't gone back and made them. Saturday, as I was in Creative Avoidance mode - not preparing for my Sunday classes - I decided it was time to make cards with the rest of the pre-cut pieces. I only had partial pieces for the circle layers and sentiments, so I was kinda free-forming those.
For the first one, I cut a mini doily with one of my new MFT dies and layered it on the blue and green pieces I had left over:
I stamped the butterfly image from the SU Thanks For Caring set (Occasions Mini) with Baja Breeze, but I stamped it off before I stamped it on the vanilla circle. The sentiment is from the same set, and is stamped with Always Artichoke.
Please note: Yes, I know the ribbon is crooked, but I've since fixed it.
For the second card, I had no spare parts, so I played with another of my neglected MFT dies - this time a set of nested pieces for a nice layered look:
The sentiment is from one of the A Muse Studio sets I bought in a weak moment. It's a great sentiment set because it covers just about every occasion. As much as I love the SU Teeny Tiny Wishes set, and how nicely the sayings fit into the Word Window punch, I do like this A Muse set since the sentiments are a little bigger. And one can never have too many sentiment sets.
I might go back and add pearls to the sides of that sentiment piece to make it look a bit more finished. I think. Yep, I'm gonna do it. Later.
In other news, my Paper Smooches order arrived a few days ago, and I feel the need to make something funky. Maybe tonight after my Stamp Camps.
Thanks for stopping by!
I love that doily...is that an SU die? Your cards are all beautiful; amazing what scraps can become :)
ReplyDeleteI love my teeny tiny wishes too, but I have a customer (old dude) that wishes I used larger sentiments. My A Muse sentiments are really small too...I did not know they made larger ones. This one is a nice size.
So pretty, L!
Those are really pretty... I love those colors and that paper is so beautiful- such a soft print.
ReplyDeleteoh no. the doily nests inside the scallop circle? damn. it's purrrrty.
ReplyDeleteI do like the cards... and I've been having to make a lot of sympathy cards lately. I could definitely go with a bigger sentiment though..
ACK!!! I can't afford any new stamps right now. And I've been coveting the A|muse since I saw the catalog. *whine* And you made it look sooooo gorgeous. Really, really pretty cards, Leslie.
ReplyDeleteI know the occasion is one you don't really *want* to make cards for but these are absolutely lovely.
