The idea for this card was a combination of things. It started with the cards in this post on the OWH site. Then in today's blurfing, I ran across Donna's post which led me to this Moxie Fab World post, and then I disappeared for a while to make this:
this post on Sandy's blog. The stamp is from the Paper Smooches Circle of Honor set. But before I started stamping, I knew I needed a background for the white circles, so I did direct-to-paper with Distress Peeled Paint with the plan to punch 1 1/8" circles to go behind the 1" circles on which I'd stamped the hearts.
Tip: It takes a while for that direct-to-paper ink to dry, especially if you go over it a few times, so that's why I colored the paper first, then did all the stamping of hearts and coloring before I punched out the green circles. I made a boo-boo (one of a gazillion) and tried to un-stick one of the white circles from its green base, and it ripped ... soundlessly ... the paper was still damp. A heat gun might be in order next time.
Coloring tip from Sandy's blog: Color the whole piece with E31, then go back and color sections in your greens. I'm very happy with how the coloring came out, and I even mostly stayed in the lines.
That's three more cards for my new, growing OWH pile. Next up, a fun card, with a total FAIL built into it. Stay tuned for that. (I only wish these FAILs weren't so easy. ;/)
Thanks for stopping by!
