Neon Birthday

The other night, while cleaning moving stuff around on my desk, I found a neon orange doily that didn't make the cut - we'll call it a UFO, and decided to put it on a card. This is what happened:

The neon doily was created by using the Hero Arts neon Orange ink pad direct-to-paper, then cutting out the doily. I picked three of my brightest washi tapes, stuck them down, and called it mostly done.

I thought it needed some pearls, but, again, I remembered the neon Copic markers leave the color flat, not shiny, and I wanted them shiny. I tried a few other Copic colors, but they weren't quite right. Then I got a clue: duh, use the neon inks!!! I put some onto a large acrylic block and used an SU Blender Pen to apply it to the pearls. It was perfect. Only one problem: it all came off on my fingers, so I had to re-apply it. :(  I think it might have dried by now. I'll let you know tonight.

Thanks for stopping by!

  2. I love the neon colors on this card. And your washi tape is a perfect match. Good job on the pearls, I will have to try that method.
