Another More-Is-More Card

I thought I'd play the current sketch at Papertake Weekly:

but I tipped it over like this:

and I made this:

That bottom paper makes the whole thing quite busy. I tried to tone it down with the green circle, but I thought it was boring, so I die-cut the hexagon circle to put over it. It toned down the green, but added to the busy. I just went with it.

I also decided the vertical text element needed to be horizontal, and I like that a lot better. Since I was in a more-is-more mode, I added three strips of paper -- two tucked under the circle, and one over the top, anchored by the handsome navy enamel dots.

The sentiment was stamped with Memento Luxe Nautical Blue ink and clear embossed.

The whole thing is very busy, but I think it works.

In other news, Saturday's yard sale was a rousing success! I sold a LOT of stuff, and I'm quite happy. AND, I spent less than $10 of my own money, and got great deals, including that Nautical Blue ink I just used, and some black flock. That's it! Not a lot of stuff came home with me that wasn't already mine. I was quite pleased with my restraint. :)

I'm going to try a few more challenges and not use so much stuff, at least not on one card!

Thanks for stopping by!

Stuff I used: vat of clear embossing powder, misc navy washi tape, and the following:

  1. Congrats on a successful yard sale! Although I always thought the purpose of those things was to acquire as much stash as you get rid of? You know to keep the world in proper balance. Your card is indeed busy but you went with it and made it work. At first glance with the "1" and the embossed sphere on top I thought it was a golf ball on a tee.

  2. I'm happy to hear your yard sale went so well and I hope your crafty room is less encumbered by stuff. This card is a bit busy, but I like it, it does work, indeed.
