SOS Challenge #25 - Stickers, Rub-ons or Chipboard

This week's challenge at Shopping Our Stash is Stickers, Rub-ons or Chipboard. And I must confess: this one was my idea. Why? Because I am OVER-RUN with the things. Why, WHY, for the love of all that is good, WHY do I keep buying them?!?!?

You know how they say if you are young and want kids, try babysitting someone else's kids, not just over-night, but have them over for a weekend, or a week? Funny how it kills that instinct dead, isn't it? I looked at this challenge as the same thing: use them until you no longer like them, and they'll go away in the process. WIN-WIN!

So in keeping with the goal of SOS: to SHOP OUR STASH, I did, and I disappeared a TON of these things. I hope to never buy them again. Well, unless they're really cute, you know ...

Let's get started, shall we?

First, I found two packages of these:

I cut them apart and rubbed them onto several cream card bases. I rubbed until my body ached. THIS IS HARD WORK! The 'happy' and 'birthday' are actually stickers, not a rub-on. Ooooh, she's getting fancy now, eh?

After I got tired of those rub-ons, I moved on to a pack of these:

I made five cards from the pack (only one floofy peacock like this), but I decided I hate, er intensely dislike them. Not feeling the love.

THEN I moved on to a pack of these:

These are plastic-y stickers, and I actually LOVE them. I divided them up and made several cards with three stickers each:

THEN I went back to my package of SRM stickers and made these:

Yeah, I made about 15 cards, and I think it's safe to say I'm "over" rub-ons and stickers for a while. See, immersion does work! I've disappeared a bunch of them, and I don't see myself buying more any time soon. I'm free! I'm free! Um, except for that sheet of sticker letters I picked up last weekend, but we won't talk about those. ;/

Now it's your turn! Go into your stash, find some rub-ons or stickers or chipboard that you just HAD to own at the time, and use them! Then go over to Shopping Our Stash and link us up so we can see what you've made!

Thanks for stopping by!

SOS Challenge #4 - "SOS"

This week at Shopping Our Stash, we have a shameless plug for Shopping Our Stash. We challenge you to use products that start with the letters S (Stickles, sailboats, seam binding ribbon), are related to the Ocean/Sea (Nautical theme), or anything from companies that start with S: Stampavie, SEI, Sassafrass, Stampin' Up!, etc.

I suppose you assume I'll be using Stampin' Up! products, and maybe Stickles, right? WRONG! I pulled a do-over and re-did a card I made a week or two ago:

The "re-did" part is that I changed out the blue square of card stock for blue shimmer card stock. And I'm not even embarrassed. Not one bit.

Here you can see some of the shimmer:

So my Ss were stripes, stars, shimmer white and shimmer blue card stocks.

Plus, today is Flag Day! How timely. No 's' in that one, but the card is related, so it had to be mentioned. ;)

In keeping with the Shopping Our Stash theme, I used the last three of these A Muse striped cards. That's one package down and ... too many to mention left to go. Baby steps, people. Baby steps.

So check out your stash for things that start with the letter S or O, something Ocean/Sea/Nautical, or things made by a company that starts with an S. A few suggestions not already mentioned to get your creative juices going: Martha Stewart, Sticky strip (I was going to incorporate that one, but changed my plans), Sesame Street, Oscar the Grouch, Snoopy, Oranges ... you get the idea, right? I can't wait to see what you come up with!

Thanks for stopping by!

5 Minutes In The Post Office

I love my Post Office, and the Postal Service in general. I think they are one of the most efficient systems we have in this country. I mean, where else can you get a piece of paper from one coast to the other - 3000+ miles away - in two days, and for under a buck? And since my local PO is also one of the Suburban Central PO's, if I go there after work, local mail is delivered the next day, and out-of-town mail gets there in two days. I love them even more because they are open until 8 pm M-F. So you see, this is not a rant about the USPS. In fact, it is not a rant at all, or I'd put it on my other blog.

No, this is a Life Observation post...what I experienced in 5 short minutes this evening. I think I'll just list things as they happened.

* As I parked, I noticed a long line, so since all I wanted was a few stamps, I went to the vending machines in the lobby.
* The vending machines only take cash.
* I have $4 on me, and stamps are $8+.
* To my left is an ATM machine - how convenient. Out of order.
* I got in line.
* Three people ahead of me is a man with a car tire, as in 'automobile' tire. It was clean and new, but mailing a tire? I could not make this up.
* Two people ahead of me is a woman on her cell phone. "Blah blah blah I have not seen him all week blah blah blah the weather here has been horrible... we had an ice storm, and then it rained, and I have not been able to leave the house all week...I just got out ... have not mailed so-and-so-'s present since I have been housebound blah blah blah ... it has been miserable here...you have no idea blah blah blah oh wait, it's my turn now, gotta go"

[Just a note: yes, we had an ice storm, and the next day most people went to work. That was Tuesday; today is Friday. Drama? Ya think?]

* The woman on the cell phone stopped to select a box just before she went to her window, since she had not bothered to wrap her items yet.
* The woman in front of me turns and looks at me with a WTF quizical expression on her face. We both shook our heads and laughed.
* A woman comes in, walks past the entire line and stands next to me, then walks past me and gets behind the person at the first window.
* The woman behind me says, out loud, "Man, I guess she's too good to stand in line." I laugh and say, "Yeah, some people are amazing, aren't they?" We both shake our heads and laugh. She agreed with me that this series of events was blog-worthy.
* My turn. The guy addressing his label for his automobile tire was asked to move over so I could get to the clerk. I bought 2 stamps and left.

Five minutes of pure, unadulterated entertainment at the Post Office. For free!

Don't forget to read the cell phone story I linked to in my earlier post. OMG, it is funny. Okay, I am off to stamp now! Thanks for stopping by!

Gotta Love It

I have added several blogs to my Google Reader over the past several weeks, and today's post on one of them is definitely worth sharing. And based on the number of comments she has already, an awful lot of people feel the same way I do: Justice has been served!!!!
