SOS #206: Out On A Limb

It's Tuesday, and time for a new challenge at Shopping Our Stash. This week's theme is Out On A Limb, and we'd like you to use trees, foliage, or something similar.

For my card, I chose to use an old Hero Arts stamp I don't think has ever seen ink. Here's my card, then I'll explain:

I stamped the tree on a piece of white card stock, then water colored it with Distress inks. I may or may not have made a mess, and had to cut off the right side of the white panel, so I used the Simon Says Stamp A2 Card Curved Edge die. I think it looks more finished, and less like I just hacked it off, which I did, but don't tell anyone.

You can see some orange splotches on the tree. Those are left over from the last time I used my Big Shot and the ink on the card stock I cut was still wet. Apparently it's still wet on the cutting plate, too. ;/

I broke open one of my collection of Lawn Fawn note cards for the base, and it miraculously is close enough in color to the Distress Cracked Pistachio I used on the leaves to work.

For the sentiment, I cut a slit on the right side of the tree and slipped it in. It just fit. Phew.

So, do you have some unloved (or favorite) tree or foliage stamps? Why not break them out and play along over at SOS this week?

Thanks for stopping by!

  3. Ok, this is adorable. It looks as though you totally meant to have a curved edge on the one side, and the orange blotches give the tree character! Love this card!

  5. Fun card! That's a great stamp. I hate it when you go to make things and you make a bigger mess than usual. Such a pain...!

  9. You know you could have just fooled us all into believing everything on this card was done on purpose and according to your grand cardmaking plan. It's good you're honest. It's still a sweet card. :)
