CAS2 Homework - Day 3

It's homework time for Day 3 of the current Clean & Simple 2 Online Card Class. Today we learned several new techniques, including how to make a gradient image with only three colors of ink. Here's my card:

I used the chevron from the Paper Smooches Geographic set, and cracked open my new Paper Smooches Birthday Sampler for the sassy sentiment.

Ink colors were Distress Festive Berries, Ripe Persimmon and Squeezed Lemonade; and the bow die is from Li'l Inkers.

My fellow classmates will notice I've diverged from the class examples of cutting the top piece short and stamping the sentiment at the bottom of the inside of the card. This is largely because I thought I had a base of 4.25x11, when in fact mine was oriented the other way. To compensate for not being able to cut a strip off the bottom of the card front, I instead cut the stamped layer.

Then I destroyed the card base. Then I made a hamburger for dinner and ate it.

Later, to save the stamped layer, I cut it off the original base and applied it to the new base, so this card is kinda hefty. I might save it for a special someone and pay the extra postage myself. Sigh.

In other news, my Google Reader approacheth 800, so I think I'll tackle that this evening.

Thanks for stopping by!

  2. It is ironic that the gradient stamping was the easy part of making this card, for you! Nice save. A+ for Leslie.

  4. unless you actually added part of the hamburger into the card (LOL! you CAN haz cheezeburger, you know!!!) i bet this one still mails at regular price. an ounce is heavier than you think!!! ♥♥♥ ps: i LOVE the gradient chevrons, tho i think i should point out that your stamping is NOT AT ALL crooked and thus i could have you on the "trades description" act... what with yer blog title and all... just sayin'... :) :) :)

  5. The online class really is fun, isn't it? I have only finished 2 cards for day 1 (still not uploaded) and have been playing around with gradient inking. No playing today, let alone creating a card or two (sometimes work gets in the way, esp. if you're a freelance translator). It also means I was unable to join in the fun red and white challenge over at the JB blog. Re your card, it's the end result that counts, right? And you did great. No one will notice you put your own spin on the original design.

  7. I love the inks you picked. I like how you cut the background piece for the sentiment. I may go back and re-do mine.
