ABNH: Favorites

For the month of December over at A Blog Named Hero we're posting our favorites from 2013. I have more than one favorite post from my fellow DT gals - it was so difficult to choose! - but I closed my eyes and picked one, and I selected Christine Drogt's dauber post. I chose this one mostly because I wanted to try it myself. :)

Christine showed us two different techniques: one with glossy paper and one with emboss resist. I only tried the emboss resist, and here's what came out:

I used the Hero Arts Fly Away Newsprint background stamp and embossed it with Hero Arts white embossing powder on white card stock. I then splatted it with three Ranger Distress stains. They splat very well. :) I layered that onto some Hero Hues Sea layering papers, then onto a white card base. The sentiment is a Simon Says Stamp die, and I cut it out of some Bazzill textured black card stock.

I'm kinda happy with how that turned out. :)

Be sure to stop by ABNH this month to see what else we've singled out as a favorite. And thanks for reading both my blog and ABNH. We couldn't do this without you!

Stuff I used:

  1. I love your version! Seems I should try some soft colors as well :)
    Thanks for picking my post!

  2. I like how it turned out too. The splats look pretty cool.

  3. holy wow, that die soooooo totally ROCKS! as does the whole card, actually. very very cool stamp, too! YUM!!! :)

  4. Emboss resist with Distress stains? Get outta here! Love the pop of the die in black & of course the technique. (I don't need to take classes I just need to catch up on all of your adventures. But of course then you make me wanna take the class!) :-D

I'd love to hear what you really think! :-)
