OCC CAS3 Homework - Day 1

I'm taking the current Online Card Classes: CAS3 - One-Layer Cards. It's Day 4, and I'm just now doing some homework, but I've been thinking about it, so that totally counts. I've been planning.

The first day we had lessons, and the second day we had more inspiration for the same lessons, so on my blog you'll see Day 1 homework followed by Day 3 homework. Unless I get really, really busy, you won't see Day 2 or 4 homework this week, or ever.

The first two days covered Faux Effects, and here's my card:

You see a bazillion die cuts, but it's only one layer, people. ONE LAYER!  Even the heart is inlaid. It all started out with "it seemed like a good idea at the time" and I used my Taylored Expressions Instant Photo Frames dies to cut three frames from some Hero Arts layering paper remnants next to my paper trimmer. I cut separate white ones for the centers, then got to work on the sentiment. I'd chosen Polaroid frames, so I wanted a sentiment like Oh, Snap, but apparently I don't have one, so I used my Paper Smooches alphabet to make one! And yes, I drew a comma after the Oh. :)  I added the bottom sentiment from the CAS-ual Fridays WTF set.

This was a lot of fussy work, but the result is pretty CAS. There was much discussion in our lessons about "clean" and "simple" and "one layer". Simple doesn't mean it was easy to make, just that the result looks simple. It's a very good class, as they all are. Best bang for my buck!

Thanks for stopping by!

Products used: black fine-point Sharpie, Taylored Expressions Instant Photo Frames die, and the following:
