Today was the day my pile of printed-but-not-yet-done challenges reached critical mass, and I was forced to purge the bottom few layers. In the process I found a few die-cut words from a crafty play date that occurred several months ago (I told you it gets bad), and I decided to use them instead of sticking them in the UFO pile. Three die-cut words = three cards. Here's the first one:
I went through my boxes of 6x6 paper packs, looking for one that had black in it. I ended up using the Authentique Collection: Renew. I took three pieces of paper and cut each one down to 4 x 5 1/4", then cut 1 1/4" off the bottom and flipped it over. Gotta love double-sided paper!
Here's the second card:
Oh, look, the sentiment was put on crooked. ;/ I wonder who did that.
I cut three pieces of black card stock to 4 1/8 x 5 3/8", and put the patterned paper on. Then I used some Multi Medium to attach the sentiment strips.
Here's the third card:
This one is a bit busier than the first two, but I think it still works. Oh, and my last act was putting the black panels onto white card bases. The end.
I feel a little guilty when I don't actually stamp on a card, but I still like these. And not only did I use the re-discovered die-cut sentiments, I also used three more pieces of the Authentique paper. I might even finish that pack in my lifetime. Could happen.
Thanks for stopping by!

My Darling Clementine
I can't even begin to count how many times my Cosmo Cricket Clementine paper pack has come to my rescue. I bought it for the colors (of course) and I've used it several times for color challenges that called for orange or green, or both. Last night was no different.
I decided I needed to combine a few challenges. First, the sketch from CAS(E) This Sketch!:
Then the current Seize The Birthday challenge to use monochromatic orange:
And lastly, I used a Paper Smooches image so I could link up to their current Guest Designer Search for December, because what the heck, right?
Here's my card:
Admittedly, the doilies probably detract from the CAS intent of the sketch (could have used plain circles), but I'd recently re-discovered my MFT mini doilies while organizing my dies, and, well, they needed to be used.
I also hope the card exudes enough orange for the Seize The Birthday challenge. I'm not a big orange fan, so I resort to patterned paper that fit the bill. Hey, I stamped the bird on orange, and highlighted him with an orange Copic, and I used orange & white twine to sew on the clear buttons, so hopefully that's enough orange to "exude". :)
This card actually came together pretty fast, so I'm pleased with that. :)
Thanks for stopping by!
ETA: I snagged a Runner Up spot at Seize the Birthday! :)

Circle Thanks
In my continuing quest to use my new stuff, I managed to make three cards the other day using one of my new dies. Here's one of the cards, then I'll explain:
I began by die-cutting the circles die from white card stock, four times because I wanted four panels. Then I cut it four more times, once each from four different pieces of double-sided patterned paper. This gave me several things:
-- 4 white panels with gaping holes
-- a pile of 4 white circle outlines
-- a pile of 4 patterned paper circle outlines
-- a pile of a bazillion circles of varying sizes and colors
First, I cut a piece of printer paper into fourths, covered each with adhesive, and stuck each of them to the back of a white gaping hole panel. This closed off the hole and gave me a place to stick things. All good card makers need places to stick things. This is getting out of control, so I'll stop now.
Here's another card:
I took one of the patterned paper circle outlines and fit it onto one of the white panels, then repeated this with the remaining three colored circle outlines.
Next, I sorted all the circles by size and began the process of filling in the open circles. I opted to include a few of the white circles, partly because they looked lonely, and partly because I ran out of good patterns to put next to each other and I used the white to break it up a little.
Here's the third card:
When I was done filling in the circles, I put the panels aside and worked on the sentiments. I chose the thanks for its simplicity, and stamped it on a banner cut with one of the MFT Fishtail dies, then mounted it with foam tape. I put the whole panel onto a Hero Arts yellow card stock base.
There was a fourth card, but it adhered badly to the piece of printer paper, and has an odd warp to it, so I haven't used it yet. It's officially a UFO now.
I like all three of these -- the same parts-is-parts, but very different looks based on the color of the outline:
Oh, and that middle one has a more centered sentiment, as it hides an unfortunate schmear. ;/
Believe it or not, another small order of new stuff has arrived, and I must see if I can initiate any of its contents. Some day I hope to catch up.
Thanks for stopping by!
