Today's HYCCT challenge is Music Soothes the Soul, and we are asked to use music and pink. Yes, (gah) pink. WHY I volunteered for a pink-themed challenge month is beyond my comprehension. Well, I know why I did: it's a great cause, but I do wish it was a different main color. Just sayin'.
Here's my card, then I'll explain:
The first thing I did was stamp the musical image onto a piece of Blush Blossom card stock using Ranger Distress Pumice Stone. The image is from a long-retired SU set called Musical Manuscript, and I had to blow the dust off of it to use it. I didn't bother fussy-cutting the edges; I just straight-cut them and distressed them to make them jagged-y. Then I got stumped and walked away. Sometimes you need to do that.
When I went back in the second or third time, I thought I should use a piece of the Basic Grey Little Black Dress paper, since it was neutrals, including black and brown. That scrap of music paper was on top of the re-organized Heaplet, so I grabbed it, tied it all up with a piece of SU Very Vanilla seam binding, and the top part was done..
The sentiment is also from the set. It says, "Where words fail, music speaks." I stamped it on a scrap from the Little Black Dress pack and layered it onto a scrap of black.
I like how this came out!
Why not stop by the HYCCT challenge forum and play along?
Thanks for stopping by!
I totally love this!
ReplyDeletePink?! Pitoui! lol. This barely-pink is perfect for the pink not-lover :)
ReplyDeleteThat sentiment is truly wonderful - and I LOVE the layers you went with!
I like it, it's soft and very pretty.
ReplyDeleteFABULOUS card, it looks absolutely beautiful, and I think it is a lovely colour combo.
