Happy Tuesday! It's time for another challenge at Shopping Our Stash. This week we ask you to use something out of a jar. There's lots of options: flower soft, glitter, perfect pearls, embossing powder, etc. Alternatively, you can use a jar image, or make something using a Jar! (decorate a jar)
See? So many options.
Being a rebel, I tried to avoid the obvious. I did not want to use embossing powder, but in the end, I did. I wandered around The Captain's Quarters muttering, "Jar , jar, jar ...". I have all my buttons in jars. I have a drawer full of embossing powder and flock. Spray mists and inks are in bottles, not jars, though that might be a technicality.
Then I spied a stack of three (only three) jars of scented embossing powder I'm pretty sure I've never used. I chose the green because I wanted to use the world stamp from one of my Hero Arts OWH sets, and this is what came out:
This card could actually qualify as another entry in Coming Clean, since it uses so much new stash. I opened and used my Impression Obsession Gradient background, my Hero Arts OWH stamp set, and a roll of washi tape. And the new old EP.
Now it's YOUR turn. Go through your stash and find something that comes in a jar, then use it. OR, use the image of a jar OR decorate a jar. Then come back to Shopping Our Stash and link us up so we can see what you've made!
Thanks for stopping by!
Products used but not linked below: SU Baja Breeze card stock, Gelly Christmas Pine Scented EP.
I love that your card is kinda like a scratch and sniff... ;)
ReplyDeleteI was just wondering - is it really mild, like scratch & sniff, or does the whole card smell like it? I've seen 'make your own' scented EP by adding cinnamon, etc...I think maybe I need to add it to the list of 'want to try!'
ReplyDeleteLeslie, This one is puzzling me also as I did not want to use the obvious, but I didn't have a good jar to use either. I might have to end up with the obvious to enter this one. Well your card is fabulous. I love the world, the stamp, the ribbon and most of all that sentiment. Ideal for an OWH card. Enjoy your day.
ReplyDeleteThe gradient background stamp was the prefect choice as a backdrop to draw the eye from the world stamp above to the sentiment below.
ReplyDeletei ♥LOVE♥ that you can make cards which are simultaneously old stash AND brand new at the same time. *that* shows talent AND determination!!! as does this gorgeous stampy masterpiece where you've done about 6 different inky things and they all make me thinkm "i should TOTALLY stamp more!!!" :) :) :)
ReplyDelete(for the record, i do HAVE stamps AND ink... they are just seriously underemployed except for distressing/aging other elements i want to use. i need to work on using them as FOCAL POINTS, like you do sooooo brilliantly!!!) ♥
ALL is wonderful with this card!!! Scented embossing powder - um....never even heard of it but it sure made a pretty card. Love that sentiment too!!!
ReplyDeleteLynn
That sentiment is adorable.
ReplyDeleteLeslie - LOVE this card!! That sentiment is AMAZING!!! And I love the background. You did a great job! And it sounds like we had the same problem....I did alot of wandering around before I actually made my card too. I plan on getting on track and getting mine made before the last minute from now on!! (that was my little pep talk! ;) lol)
ReplyDeleteBlessings,
Michelle
LOL i always forget those embossing powers so I grabbed it as a change to use it.
ReplyDeleteBeautiful card. Love the soft colors and how the tape lets the pattern shows through.
