Another Hello Card

During my recent mojo-filled day, I made a card for two more challenges. I combined the sketch from Freshly Made Sketches:

and the colors from Colour Me ...:

and this is what came out:

In my continuing quest to use my new stuff so I can put it away, I pulled out my new Hero Arts/Basic Grey Flag Pattern stencil. I masked off the bottom and top of the white panel, then taped the stencil over the open area. I very carefully applied Distress inks -- Festive Berries on top, Seedless Preserves at the bottom, and Peacock Feathers in the middle. I love the colors that get created when you blend these inks!

After I removed the stencil and tape, I added thin strips of black card stock above and below the stenciled area to define it, and also to satisfy that part of the sketch. I layered the white panel on black, then tied some black burlap twine above the top black strip. Man, that stuff sheds!

I mounted the whole thing onto a white base, then went in search of a subtle sentiment. I ended up with the hello from the Simon Says Stamp Talk Bubbles 2 set.

In other news, my cell phone died. That isn't such a bad thing except for when it died: Black Friday. I don't shop on normal days, and I pride myself in never having gone out of the house on a Friday after Thanksgiving. Well, one time a friend and I went to a movie, but I was young and foolish back then. So here I was, on Black Friday, driving to the Verizon Wireless store across the street from the mall. It was horrible. It was made worse by the fact that they have to over-night me a replacement phone and I get to go back today to get it activated. Please pray for me.

On a lighter note, I'm stuck at home, waiting for the FedEx guy, so I'll go spend some time in the craft room. :)

Thanks for stopping by!

Stuff I used: SU Basic Black card stock, and the following:
