You're Spectacular

For my next challenge + UFO card, I started by playing with my new Clearly Besotted Simply Quilled stamps and dies. I stamped them onto a water colored background and die-cut them ... well, first let's look at the finished card, then I'll explain:

I took five of the quilled die-cut petals and arranged them into a flower shape. While I was pondering the arrangement, my pals were discussing a cool piece of lizard-skin black paper, and there was a piece left from a previous project, so I took that. You could call it a piece of paper from her Heaplet. :)

Then I saw the current Retro Sketches sketch:

and saw that I could use both my flower and a piece of that lizard-skin paper together, and the card was born. The black paper is shiny and slick, so I used a wet glue to sandwich the petals between two die-cut circles of the same black paper.

The sentiment is from the MFT Geek is Chic set, and I thought it went well with the quilled fleurs.

Oh, the striped background is also from the UFO pile. It was the first spritzing from when I made this card. At the time I thought it was too wet -- too much stripe showing, but I think it works well here.

I have one more challenge + UFO card to share, then the rest are all plain UFO cards. I'll try not to flood your RSS feed this time. :)

Thanks for stopping by!
